A Season for Time

There have been several times I have started to write only to get distracted or have the thoughts go from a steady stream to completely turned off. This is something I get frustrated with until I recall that life is ebb and flow and the stream is bound to dry up sometimes.

With that understanding I also realize that I can do things to create an environment for the stream to grow and thrive in, for my own personal little forest sanctuary to grown and prosper in.

Thus, this is my season for time. A season to create time by simplifying. Time for me, for my brain and soul to rest. Most importantly time to create by writing, sketching, and painting. To create more depth in relationships with those I care about most.

As I look around I see people who are pulled in many directions, life becomes too busy. We all seem to struggle with this, but the reality is that we each have the ability to change this for ourselves. Whether limiting our screen time or carving a little more time for the important things and ignoring emails for a bit or putting off that load of laundry for an hour to spend time with loved ones… we are the only ones who truly control that. Yes, most of us have to work and have those hours we cannot do much about… but outside of those hours we alone choose what is our priority.

I encourage each of you as we go into this busy holiday season to slow it down and spend your time on the important things. Make self-care and relationship care the priority. A ton of gifts can never replace what we give of ourselves (this coming from someone who truly enjoys giving gifts to people I love). Put down your phones and look around when outside, put down your phones and truly converse with the people around you. Make this a season for time because that is a more precious gift than any tangible item.

May your holiday season be filled with those you love and time to enjoy each other. I plan on spending this season creating a lot of delicious, tender, and laughter filled memories within the little circle (people and pets) who means the most to me.

Much love.
