Autumn. Also known as fall, however Autumn feels more magical to me! It brings to mind a canopy of brightly colored leaves as the season changes from summer and begins to bring the cool months before winter. Just thinking about it gets me dreaming of beautiful days and nights in my future. Soft sweaters, fuzzy socks, hot coffee, and Halloween! The scents of pumpkin and spice, the taste of Thanksgiving!
On a recent Saturday morning as I was walking with Mellie at a favorite local park I noticed the leaves were beginning to turn color and make their way to create a crinkly carpet on the ground. When the sky is a gray blue and the trees stand bare I find myself drawn to be outdoors, caught in a rapture that has no words.
Autumn is a stark reminder that the world is filled with seasons of hibernation and renewal. Even more wonderful is how nature works with this cycle and no matter the season there are plants that are coming alive while others begin to take a little nap.
Our lives are the same, we have cycles and seasons. For me, it is as the weather begins to cool that I come alive. The heat of Florida summer sucks the energy out of me and I look forward to the cooler weather and even cold weather with a giddyness that is reminiscent of childhood when I was eagerly awaiting Christmas or the local fair!
As Autumn (even Florida style) arrives I welcome it with joy, like a friend I haven’t seen in many months. This is a season of awakening for me and I eagerly look forward to adventuring with my guy and my dog (and hopefully a regal bearded dragon will join sometimes).
I love how nature often shows a path for how life works. Reminding us that every season changes both in life and in the natural world around us. The upcoming months bring a change of season in many ways for me, well beyond just the weather and I am ridiculously excited about this new season and the ones to come.
Happy Autumn friends! I hope this cooler weather brings joy to your life. Enjoy the change of season and remember that there is beauty even in a time when nature begins to rest.
