Recently I embarked on a new path of learning for my life. It was inspired by the realization that I needed to equip myself with more knowledge to better myself. Something I am doing for myself to improve my life as a whole.
It was also inspired by some people who I have watched climb over and break through obstacles in their life. Some of these have been serious obstacles. Rebuilding trust after having trust destroyed. Choosing to love again when it seemed impossible to do so. Packing up to move across the country or the world to follow a dream while knowing it may fall apart. Making the decision day after day to move forward even when the future seems impossible to see through the wall of crap in life.
Learning to improve our life can be similar to hiking in mountains. I can remember hiking a mountain trail and coming to a part with large rocks that we had to climb up to get to a different trail. We weren’t actually on a trail at that point, we veered off to make our own so that we could get to a higher up area and see what was there. Climbing those wobbly rocks was a bit scary for me (that fear of falling thing) and I can remember shaking, but I also remember the exhilaration as I made it up each section and finally reached the top where my friend Jacki was giving me instructions to guide me up and over the edge.
The knowledge I am acquiring is enlightening and inspiring, but much like that rocky “path” on the mountain it feels a bit wobbly and shaky sometimes. It is equally exhilarating and empowering. Because of this research I am uncovering the strength I carry and a boldness that I remember well from years ago. A boldness that was diminished for some years of my life, but has been resurfacing in a new way. This boldness is not just sharing my opinions, it is more about sharing my heart and my thoughts from a place of love and care.
To all who inspire me, thank you! Some of you may never realize how much you inspire others with your grace under pressure, with your perseverance and resilience. Strength isn’t all about the weight you can carry. There is so much more. It is the quiet determination to make your dreams and goals a reality. It is doing something scary or tough because you need to even if you don’t want to. It is finding the courage to keep moving forward even if the steps are slow and you feel stuck.
Keep moving forward and scrambling over the obstacles. As you do it, remember to stop and give yourself some kudos. Others don’t always see those obstacles and realize the work put into getting over them. It may feel strange to give yourself applause and a pat on the back, but you deserve it so do it!
So much love and gratitude for those who share my journey through being in my life or in reading this blog. More importantly thank you to all who share their stories to keep inspiration flowing and so that others might be helped in their journey.
