Tiny Bits of Gratitude

First and foremost, I am all about gratitude. With that said, I occasionally get caught in the trap of looking for the big fireworks, the colorful and brilliant sunrise, the brightest moon and stars that sparkle like diamonds. This is the thing about gratitude, it is easy to be grateful for the big, bold, and bright… but I think where gratitude is best to be found is in the tiny little bits of life. The hidden little gems and the whispered moments when life is absolutely perfect. Often those are the quiet walks before the sun comes up, when the stars still sparkle and the world is covered in a stillness that allows my soul to breathe. The moon is a bright beacon to follow as I let my mind release and explore. Sometimes the gratitude is for the little purring cats who run around my house or the big loving eyes and sweet puppy kisses that Mellie gives. Sometimes the gratitude is for the bold patterns of the orchid I just bought to brighten my office and my soul. Gratitude for the way the breeze teases my skin or they way the sun warms me after I have been in my office all day. Gratitude for all that is good in my life. The love of friends. Simple and sweet gestures of care… a quick text reminder that someone is thinking of me. The random phone calls just to say hello and check in. A soufflĂ© from Panera waiting for me at work. Gratitude for love that I know is there even when the words are not and life feels heavy and hard. Gratitude for the life that I have even as I look to create the life that I dream of.

No matter what life is putting in front of you, look for the tiny things to be grateful for. It isn’t always easy, but it makes all the difference in how I view this life.

Much love.
