Simplicity

In the simplest of moments we can find the most meaning. So often we look for grand moments, the things that pop out and wow us and those can be amazing! Don’t get me wrong, I will watch fireworks with more awe and wonder than most kids do. I squeal and get crazy excited for the brilliant display in the sky! That is something I never want to lose. That childlike delight in the beauty of fireworks or in the crashing of waves over my feet as I walk the ocean’s shore. As spectacular and amazing as those can be there is something to be said for the simple moments when the quiet of the sunrise whispers into your soul or the sound of the rain quenches the chaos of the world and allows you to get lost into the creative recesses of your brain. Then there are the moments that you sit with someone you love and stare into their eyes while the world around you fades into oblivion. In that simple moment your souls converse beyond words and you get replenished in ways you cannot fully fathom. The laughter of dear friends and how your heart swells when you hear it because their friendship is so treasured. The sweet and simple little moments when you look into the eyes of the little spotted dog who is the most precious little thing in your world and see all that love in those puppy eyes.

My friends, cherish the simplicity. When things are so sweet that your soul almost aches with the beauty of it. We often expect the explosions and grand gestures when all along the small little pieces of our life, the times that are just quietly surrounding us… well often those moments are the most precious of all.

Open your eyes and watch for the simple little pieces of your days. Let your soul awaken with delight as you find the warmth of the sun reaching across the sky and through branches of trees. Notice the brilliant beauty of the cardinal’s wings as it explores the world around it. Breathe in the intoxicating scent of the roses as you walk through the gardens. Let your mind open wide as you listen to the roar of the ocean. Hold the hugs a little longer with those you care most about. Tell people you love them. Hand out compliments for no reason other than they are the words in your mind and you should share them. The smallest little things can have the greatest impact.

Much love.
