This past Saturday some friends and I went to explore the South end of the Canaveral National Seashore. Specifically we went to visit Turtle Mound. Lately I have found a need to spend more time in nature here in Florida. It’s not easy in the summer because it is HOT and buggy. Now that everything is a little cooler it’s the time of year to enjoy my home state.
Canaveral Seashore is more wild than most beaches in Florida. The dunes are higher, there are no cards allowed on the beach, it costs $10 to get in, and there are no places to eat within walking distance. This keeps many people away and is part of the reason I love this area so much!
On this visit the surf was too rough to go out into the water. Waves were rolling up onto the beach and there were not many places to sit without getting wet. So, we walked the beach. Our legs getting coated in sandy, salty water.
There is nothing quite like the ocean to bring peace to my soul. Everything melts away. It’s just this beautiful body of water, the sky, and my soul.
They say that the negative ions are the reason the ocean is beneficial. They say the salt is what helps. I think it’s so much deeper and way more primal. It’s an instinct in our soul, somewhere deep inside that calls to a time and place we cannot remember, but that our soul yearns for. Science may never explain it and that is okay with me. I just know that when I am on the beach I become one with our universe and feel the universe within me.
Take some time, stroll along the shore and clear your soul.
Much love, much peace.
