Sometimes I walk outside and the scent of a coming rainstorm will be in the air and I find myself pulled into thoughts of raindrops and clouds. Recently this happened and all I could think was how I love being able to smell roses, fresh cut grass, pine needles, and ocean breezes.

As I went walking that very same morning and looked to the sky I was overwhelmed by the joy that the colors of the sunrise brought to my soul. To look at the world and the brilliance of colors painted on it is a gift.

Thinking about being able to smell and to see brought about thoughts of other senses. Taste… That divine first sip of coffee, the tantalizing bite into fresh baked brownies, or that perfect flavor of curry at my favorite Thai place. Touch… The feeling when hugging a close friend, when my nieces or nephews snuggle up, or when a breeze grazes my skin.

Then there’s the ability to hear. Music as it reaches into your soul and grabs you deep down inside. The sound of a child’s laughter. The happiness inside when you hear the voice of someone you love.

Not everyone gets to experience these things. These gifts we so easily take for granted. I cannot imagine life without these things.

In a small moment of time I was reminded of these beautiful things and my soul was filled with happiness.

May you have a few moments of that happiness this week.

Much love
