In less than 48 hours the weather experts are expecting us to have a hurricane rolling by. A giant freaking hurricane. Hurricane Irma.
In the midst of the chaos surrounding the impending disaster I have found that calm is easier to find than one would think. Why? Because nature happens. Life happens. None of us are getting out of this life alive. I’m not being nonchalant about the storm and the associated dangers. I’ve prepared as much as I can. Food is stocked up, water is stocked up, battery operated lights are waiting, emergency candles are stashed. Now it’s time to wait.
As I walked this morning I thought about what a waste worry is. Because honestly, while this storm is bad… life isn’t exactly all sunshine and roses. Let’s face it, every day when you wake up there is a chance you won’t be here by the end of the day. Not to be morbid here. This is just reality.
So, as with all of life there is a choice in how to react. In this moment I choose to react with calm.
Because on every level in life there is always a threat that a strong wind is going to come along and upset our plans. It might be a natural disaster, it might be loss of a loved one, it might be a serious illness. These things happen. So do the good things. In all of this we have to decide our reaction to the circumstance.
No matter where you are in life I hope you can find the calm in the midst of the chaos.
Be prepared.
Much love.
