Adventure Lives Inside

In the midst of typing this particular piece I accidentally deleted it all… oops! Maybe it was supposed to happen.

Adventure. Adventure can mean doing something dangerous and exciting, but it can also mean a remarkable experience. I have had adventures in Target and Ikea because I was with friends who manage to create fun wherever they go.

When I think of adventure I start with what is in your soul. Someone told me once that adventure lives outside… and I explained that unless you have adventure inside of you it seems unlikely you will ever find it outside.

Adventure can be something different to everyone. We all decide what that means for us. Yesterday I took my dog on what to her was adventures. We went to Home Depot, we went to Krispy Kreme, and we went walking around a pond. If only we all found the little things to give us such excitement. Having Mellie in my life reminds me to get excited about the little things. She gets happy every time there is a new smell in the air. She loves to play in the water when I water the plants in the yard. Her tail wags every time I get her leash down. Such simple things bring her such joy. She is constantly teaching me to enjoy the little moments and to look at our outings as adventures. Because to her, every walk is an adventure.

So, I continue to look for adventures in the little things. The random outings with friends, the new foods to taste, and the tiniest moments of every day life that are really the best parts of life. Friendship, new flowers blooming in the yard, sunrise, and moments spent taking my little spotted dog places.

Find your adventure, whatever it is and embrace it.

Much love.

Not a fan of shoes. Love trails, painting, the sky, Dr. Who, Sherlock, and my little spotted dog. Founding member of Team FlashFoot. Obsessed with taking photos of the sky and flowers. Would rather be working in the yard than in a group of people. Sundays are made for margaritas.
