When browsing WordPress I happened upon the post above. My thoughts suddenly went a dozen places at one time. Unravel… what a word. It conjures thoughts of a scarf that has unraveling threads and of life. Life is much like my beloved scarf, with threads snagging and sticking out haphazardly. The scarf in question has a veritable flower garden of colors in a wonderful pattern. It goes with pretty much anything. I hope that it lasts at least as long as I do. My plan is to be the crazy old lady who wears a bunch of colors and a big, floppy hat (think Steel Magnolias).
Life is also this beautiful fabric, with brilliant colors and patterns. The thread that holds life together is strong, but fragile all at the same time. It easily catches on the limbs of trees that line the paths we travel. Sometimes it seems that life is constantly unraveling. It starts to come undone and we instinctively pick at the threads. We forget that we can pull that thread back in and that life is still unique and beautiful, much like my scarf. When it first unraveled I worried that it wasn’t going to be usable much longer, but with a little love it’s still in my closet waiting for cooler temps to visit.
As you feel life unravel and you get caught up in the worry, stop and breathe. Take a moment to check your thread. It’s made to last. You might need to tuck it in or cut some off or put a knot in it. Nobody said we’d make it through life without scars. Some of the prettiest things around have been battered and repaired.
