When I was young I loved late nights and early mornings. These were the moments I’d kick on some music and get lost in a book. In the past several years I’ve walked away from those moments. During time of contemplation about this ridiculously long funk I’ve been in, a thought popped into my head. The thought was that life was more relaxing when I spent more time in the stillness. More time reading, writing, creating. Less time rushing and keeping caught up in this instant gratification world.
This morning, instead of rolling back over and fitfully attempting to sleep, I decided to write. Embracing the silence and letting the thoughts roll from my soul.
Why do we feel this need to cram so much into life? To the point where people forget to enjoy the little moments. People are scared of the stillness, those times alone with their thoughts.
The challenge I’m making to myself is to be in the moments. Let the thoughts come and go. Deal with the unpleasant ones and rejoice in the thoughts that warm my soul.
Take a moment and embrace the stillness. Grab your coffee (or whatever drink you love) and just sit with yourself. Trust me, you can be friends with that voice in your soul.
Love this and the overall fact of you writing. Can’t wait to read more. Proud of you.
